Yay! I am home safe and I have another great weekend and experience underneath my belt.
I missed posting on Saturday and I’m more than OK with this. I got a hella lot accomplished. I had my first phone session with Tim Brownson early Saturday morning. (I’ll probably start another category and blog about my progress separately…) I’m very pleased with how it went outside of my phone’s techinal difficulties! Soon after this I got on the road – a pleasant 4 hour drive to Kansas to see my family, pick up my girls after a week of chillin’ with Grandma and to attend the Miss Kansas Pageant.
Now, I am not a pageant person or a terribly social person at that. But I love watching productions. I appreciate all that they do in preparation.
It had been 15 years since I attended a pageant (Mom is heavily involved cause she’s the most bad ass Kansas Socialite there is!) and it was so much smaller than what I remembered. Maybe that’s the kid in me or maybe the popularity of the program has just waned.
It was lackluster at best (the MC’s were doing their damndest but the crowd wasn’t really buying it.) I suggested to my mom that they allow complimentary champagne at the door. Why do you think comedy shows are so successful? It’s always better after a little liquid relaxation. OK – so putting the budding alcoholic in me aside… it all changed once the opening number got started.
The professional dancers came out with the contestants and oh how the party got started! I was about 10 feet from the stage and I was ever impressed by the energy these dancers had. They were hoopin’ and yelling out and 150% present in what they were doing.
Everyone could feel it. After 60 seconds, this quiet auditorium was ALIVE with energy.

Me and The Miss Kansas Dancers
So what does this have to do with my journey? Well, I had a belief firmly cemented in my brain.
The crowd can be against you, you have no cheer leaders and the mood is solemn. It doesn’t matter. YOU create the energy you need. When you embrace your craft, make no apologies and no excuses, the masses cannot help but come around and eventually be the ones lifting you up. Just imagine the result you want and act as if you’re already getting it.
It was a great night.
